SMARTER Balance Consortium

Check out the SMARTER Balance Consortium, an initiative to bring common assessment aligned to the Common Core State Standards and that accurately measure student progress toward college and career readiness.

The Move to the Common Core for ELA

For years states have done their own thing with regards to curriculum and instruction.  Emphasis on Adequate Yearly Progress and the after-effects of No Child Left Behind (2001) have prompted a move by many states to the Common Core.  This curriculum project has a goal of providing standards in English/Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies.  Currently, ELA and Math are completed.
